Nariah’s 21 Day Meal Plan Success Story—With PCOS!

With her permission, I wanted to share Nariah’s success story with you all. She’s lost 56 lbs on the 21 Day Meal Plan in 4 months—with PCOS!!! Here’s her story:

Oh, where do I begin?

My name is Nariah Cavarretta, I am 20 years old and I live in Maine. Currently, I am a Certified Nursing Assistant in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as well as a nursing student. 

I am the youngest of four girls and growing up with them, I was always the heaviest. I struggled to lose weight my whole life. At sixteen, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which basically explained why I struggled with the number on the scale my whole life. I tried everything for weight loss—healthy and unhealthy. I cut my calories, ate certain foods, went to the gym, etc. No matter what I did nothing worked for me and, unfortunately, my doctor was unsupportive of me. She basically told me I was not trying hard enough. 

Besides struggling with PCOS and to lose weight, I was also struggling with side effects of depression and anxiety as an overweight high school girl. Fast forward to June 2017, senior year, when I met my current boyfriend. We fell in love and we all know that when you get in a comfortable relationship, you can gain weight. I am not exactly sure how much weight I gained in the first 6-12 months of our relationship, but I assumed it was between 20-25 pounds. I was at my heaviest weight and, although I was in love, I hated my body and knew I needed to make a change. 

After hitting my heaviest weight in June 2018 (217ish), I knew I had to do something and that is when I found the 21 Day Meal Plan on Instagram. I followed for a couple of weeks, and I was hesitant because nothing had worked for me in the past. I asked my sister to start the plan with me and she said, “Nariah, I doubt that will even work so why even try it.” This was extremely discouraging, but I decided to give it a try. 

In four short months, following the 21 Day Meal Plan 100% compliant, I lost 56 lbs. 56 POUNDS! Losing the weight changed a lot about me. After a year and a half without a menstrual cycle, I regained a regular cycle, achieved a healthy BMI, went from a size 14/16 in pants to a size 4/6, and went from a size 2XL to an M. I finally feel confident in my own skin—I am happier, my skin is healthier, I have more energy, and I am sleeping better. My PCOS, depression, and anxiety are finally controlled. I have more energy to do things, I get up early, and I feel motivated to work out and cook meals.
