The Cause of Painful Digestion

Signs of Low Stomach Acid and How to Fix It
1. Constant belching and bloating
Bloating is a common symptom of low stomach acid and can be caused by many things. It's important to know that bloating is not the same thing as belching, although they are often associated with each other. Belching is a reflex action that involves the expulsion of air from your stomach through your throat, while bloating refers to an increase in abdominal size caused by gas building up in your intestines.
Bloating is one of the most recognizable signs of low stomach acid because it’s often accompanied by other symptoms like constipation and heartburn. Between 30% and 50% of people who experience frequent bloating also experience heartburn or GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
2. Acid reflux without heartburn
If you have reflux without heartburn, that means your stomach acid is coming up into your esophagus without being triggered by food or other factors.
This can happen when the valve between the stomach and esophagus doesn't close properly. This causes acid to flow back up into the throat, which can cause a sore throat or difficulty swallowing.
3. Constipation / diarrhea
Constipation and diarrhea are also common signs of low stomach acid. This can be caused by a variety of digestive conditions, including SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) and other stomach acid deficiencies.
4. Hair loss in women
If you're a woman and experiencing hair loss, it could be due to low stomach acid. Low stomach acid has been linked to several causes of hair loss in women:
A vitamin deficiency
An imbalance of hormones such as estrogen or progesterone
A thyroid problem
5. A chronic feeling of fullness after meals
Feeling full after a meal is a sign of low stomach acid. Healthy digestion begins in the mouth, and the stomach's job is to churn up food and send it on its way down through your intestines. If your stomach doesn't have enough acid, you'll have trouble breaking down protein, which means that you won't absorb all of the nutrients from your food.
The good news: fixing low stomach acid can be simple and inexpensive—but if left unchecked for too long, it can lead to major health problems like nutritional deficiencies.
6. Brain fog, anxiety and/or difficulty sleeping
Brain fog, anxiety and/or difficulty sleeping are all symptoms of low stomach acid. This is because the brain relies on hydrochloric acid to break down foods that take a long time to digest, such as raw vegetables and protein.
What you can do:
If you do have low stomach acid (HCL), there are lots of ways to boost it naturally:
Apple Cider Vinegar: Increases acidity of the stomach
Betaine Hydrochloride: Increases the acid in your stomach
Salt: to help make hydrochloric acid
Potassium: Critical in making stomach acid.
