Creamy Italian Sub Dressing (Perfect for Subs in a Tub at Home)

If you love the bold, tangy flavor of a classic deli sub but want something that coats every bite in a chopped salad or “sub in a tub,” this creamy Italian dressing is it.
It has that familiar red wine vinegar + Italian seasoning punch, softened with Greek yogurt and a touch of mayo for creaminess — no bottled dressing needed.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup 0% Greek yogurt (plain, nonfat)

  • 2 tbsp light mayo (I have a light mayo recipe coming soon)

  • 2–3 tbsp red wine vinegar (start with 2, add more to taste)

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a bowl or jar.

  2. Whisk or shake until smooth and fully combined.

  3. Taste and adjust vinegar, salt, or pepper as needed.

  4. Chill for 10–15 minutes if you have time — the flavor gets even better.

Texture & Flavor Notes

  • More tangy: add more red wine vinegar

  • More creamy: add a little extra yogurt or mayo

  • Classic deli drizzle: thin with 1–2 tbsp water

Serving

  • Use 1–2 tablespoons per bowl

  • Perfect on:

    • Italian subs in a tub

    • Turkey or ham sub bowls

    • Chicken grinder bowls
